Rowan is passionate about how organisations transform and digitally enable their people to use technology to enable modern workplaces and redefine the role, strategic contribution and service experience of HR teams.

Business or HR Transformation has many aspects and in this session we will explore the imperatives driving the need for change, building executive investment, the digital must-haves and future direction of where technology is redefining the employee experience.

Most importantly we explore the ways APAC businesses have successfully leveraged and navigated transformation to deliver outstanding work environments and employee experiences.

Investment in digitally enabling the people service experience is a real challenge for many organisations. Those that have invested have not always extracted the value or unlocked the potential from the technology and relationships they have built. Having worked with many organisations undertaking an HR transformation journey, building a compelling business case, configuring for an enhanced employee experience and aligning strategy, process and delivery are problems many still face.

The session will explore these and other impediments to enable attendees to improve the probability of a successful transformation and develop a sustainable, long term plan and mindset for HR innovation.

About our presenter

Rowan Tonkin, HR Transformation Specialist

Rowan Tonkin is an experienced practitioner having worked as an HR professional for over 25 years, 15 years as an GMHR/HR Executive in New Zealand and Australia. He has led significant HR transformation projects and managed HR Technology teams in FSI and Telecommunications businesses. Rowan has also been the CIO for Turners & Growers and was also responsible for leading the ANZ Bank Group HR Systems, Technology, Payroll, Analytics and Channel Management teams delivering to 50,000+ employees in 30 countries.

His hybridisation between Technology and People/Talent has seen him working with many HR teams across Asia Pacific for the past 5 years as Senior Director, HR Transformation at Oracle. In this role he has been the Executive sponsor on many HR technology projects and provided insight and advice on adapting technology to deliver digital HR and employee experiences.

Rowan now contracts, supporting New Zealand business navigate, design, implement and adopt Future of Work technologies.

He is a 30yr+ member of HRNZ, a Fellow and a member of the HRNZ Board. Rowan is also a member of the certification panel for accrediting HR professionals in New Zealand and is a Fellow of the Australian HR Institute as well. He has also been recognised as NZ HR Person of the Year and HR Generalist of the year.
