AUCKLAND : HR101 | Performance Management

HRNZ is pleased to partner with Duncan Cotterill to present the second instalment of the 2023 HR101 series. Nikita Bartlett (Associate) and John Gray-Smith (Solicitor) will be running an informative “how to” session on navigating the many hazards associated with performance management, broadly covering the following:

- The core legal components of performance management.

- Formal versus informal performance management.

- How and when to put a performance improvement plan in place.

- Common mistakes and how to avoid them.

- Strategies for dealing with difficult situations.

Attendees will leave this session more confident in running HR process with employees on this topic and managing legal risk to their businesses.

Our Presenters

Nikita Barlett, Associate

Nikita is an Associate in Employment team at Duncan Cotterill assisting a wide range of clients at all stages of employment matters. Her expertise ranges from providing advice on personal grievances, bullying and harassment, restructuring and redundancies, disciplinary procedures, performance management, medical incapacity, advising on a variety of agreements and conducting sensitive workplace investigations. She also has experience with acting for and assisting with defending clients in the Employment Relations Authority and Employment Court.

John Gray-Smith, Solicitor

John is a solicitor in Duncan Cotterill's Employment team, where he works with a number of employer clients, ranging from small businesses to large corporates, across a variety of industries. John advises on a range of issues including disciplinary and performance processes, restructuring and redundancy, restraint of trade issues, and he assists with the defence of Employment Relations Authority and Employment Court claims. John also has experience assisting employee clients in raising concerns and negotiating exits and settlements.
