About our Presenters

Karli Te Aotonga, Manager Ao Māori Capability, Ministry of Education

Karli whakapapa connections are to Ngāti Awa, Te Arawa, Ngāi Tūhoe, Ngāti Tūwharetoa ki Kawerau, Ngāti Raukawa, Ngāti Ruanui and Ngā Rauru.

She has extensive leadership experience in strategic HR, OD and customer service-centred design and delivery.

Karli is a chartered member (CMHRNZ), National Board Director and facilitator of Transforming HRM Aotearoa for HRNZ, and is a member of Tūhono Pou Tāngata (Public Service Māori HR) and the National Advisory Board for Gender Tick NZ. She holds a bachelors degree in business management (HRM), masters degree in Māori and Indigenous Leadership and is currently studying towards a PhD Māori Studies concentrated on restorative early intervention in employment relations for the public service sector.

Karli is committed to the kaupapa of transformational change and culture within all workplaces of Aotearoa through bicultural and kaupapa Māori HR leadership principles and values.

She is māmā to three boys Cobey, Wiremu Te Awarua and Tūterangi-Te Ramaapakura – her life’s inspiration.
