AUCKLAND: Employment Relations Act - update on performance management

In light of recent case law and changes to the Employment Relations Act we will provide an update on performance management and how to best use probationary periods to protect your business. We will also consider how performance management processes can be affected by allegations of bullying and mental health issues.
At the end of the session we will cover availability provisions and the recent Employment Court decision of Postal Workers Union of Aotearoa Inc v New Zealand Post Limited which is likely to require changes to many employment agreements.
A light lunch will be provided from 12.30pm with the session starting at 1pm
About our Presenters
Marie is the Head of Chapman Tripp's employment practice in Auckland. She advises clients on a wide variety of commercial disputes, specialising in employment law and health and safety. Marie works with a number of the firm's key clients, many of whom are large employers. Her broad range of general commercial experience means that she is able to provide practical advice relevant to the clients' commercial objectives. Marie assists clients on the full range of employment and health and safety matters. She has represented clients in numerous mediations and hearings, has experience in acting for employers on health and safety investigations and prosecutions and works alongside clients to help them understand the new health and safety regime.
Vonda is a Senior Associate in Chapman Tripp's employment team and assists a number of the firm's key clients on a full range of contentious and non-contentious employment matters. She has represented clients in the Employment Court, Employment Relations Authority and in mediation with the Ministry of Business Innovation and Employment.
