AUCKLAND BRANCH IO Psychology SIG: Developing High Performing Teams
- Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes
- Region: Auckland
- Venue: National Institute of Water & Atmospheric Research
Join us for an informative session from Mel Cash, OD Manager, NIWA and Eugenia McGrath, Senior Consultant, Winsborough Ltd.
“All significant human accomplishments - from discovering agriculture, to constructing the pyramids and the Great Wall of China, to building innumerable cathedrals, roads, cities and modern organizations - are the result of group effort, of collective and highly coordinated enterprise” (Dave Winsborough).
Most of us know what it’s like to work in a team that is highly effective and functioning well. We get results. It feels great. But what about those times when things aren’t going so well? Just because people are in a team does not mean they will automatically work effectively together. Getting things aligned and working well takes attention and effort.
This session will cover what teams need from leaders, and what leaders can do to grow and develop effective teams, particularly in the current context filled with challenge and uncertainty. We will introduce a robust team framework based on contemporary research and theory. We will also discuss a set of tools and resources that team members and leaders can use to raise the level of the team’s effectiveness, cohesion and subsequent wellbeing.
