Crystal is committed to serving Māori communities, in particular, those who are significantly impacted by inequity and inequality -in a range of indicators - economically, socially, politically and, culturally.
She has travelled extensively overseas and strives to be a positively contributing and conscious global citizen. In 2017 she was selected as a delegate and speaker to represent New Zealand, at the Humanitarian Affairs University Scholars Leadership Symposium - held at the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific. She is a member of the Asia New Zealand Foundation Leadership Network - a global network of young New Zealanders, representative of many walks of life. The network provides leadership development opportunities for members and strengthens connections between New Zealand and Asia.
She is a PhD student in Te Raupapa - Waikato Management School. Her research is focused on Māori women in leadership and exploring their experiences of identity and belonging within the organisations in which they work.
