About the role:

The General Manager, People Operations will be a member of the Auckland leadership team and will report to the Chief People and Culture Officer.  A national role you will provide expertise and guidance to three sites developing and implementing people and culture initiatives and programmes and a delivery model that is aligned with business strategy. 

Key experience and deliverables will include

  • Developing and managing a highly motivated team of  HR professionals across three locations
  • Taking the lead in employment relations, negotiating both individual and collective employment agreements  
  • Driving the implementation of talent management programmes and succession planning
  • Supporting diversity and inclusion programmes, ensuring they are fit for purpose and meeting individual needs
  • Ensuring HR is delivering outcomes to position the organisation as an employer of choice
  • Championing leadership and customer service skills development right across the New Zealand organisation
  • As a member of the leadership team, sharing the responsibility for maintaining a safe and healthy workplace and preventing harm

You will be an experienced HR practitioner with a demonstrable record of leading and developing high performing teams.  Essential to the role will be a track record of successfully maintaining and developing relationships with Unions and for managing collective bargaining  in what can be a challenging employee relations landscape.  Working in an environment that is energetic, fast-paced and complex you will have the ability to perform at all levels and work with a broad range of stakeholders.
