Port Marlborough is a diverse port and marina business with operations across multiple sites in Picton, Havelock and the Marlborough Sounds. Preventing harm, environmental leadership, valuing the accomplishments of people and partnering with the community are top priorities for us.
Based in Picton, our new Health and Safety Advisor will be welcomed by our existing H&S team who support safe work practices across our operations and drive our ambitious safety improvement programme. The H&S team partners with business unit managers and operational staff to deliver competent on-site technical support. Joining a stable and supportive team, this additional role will focus on leading our wellbeing programme and managing the day-to-day operation of our health and safety reporting system.
Ideally, you’ll have worked in an operational role at some stage, and have experience in developing and/or implementing safety practices as part of normal daily work within safety sensitive industries (e.g. contracting, construction, manufacturing). You may be a Safety Advisor looking to broaden and develop your skills further or you may be in a Safety Coordinator role and looking for a step up. What is important for success in this role is a genuine interest in Health and Safety. If you have transferable skills through career experience Port Marlborough are able to provide training and support.
The ability to relate well to people will be at the forefront of your skill set, supporting strong relationships with colleagues and multiple stakeholder and building high levels of trust. Combined with this you will be committed to understanding ‘what good looks like’ in safety systems and bring a pragmatic, energetic and relatable approach to help make this happen.
