HR Business Partner - Waipa District Council

Information

After four years at Waipā District Council, one of our three HR Business Partners is spreading her wings - we're so proud of her but also gutted to be losing her. So now the hunt is on to find someone equally awesome to join our team.

About Us

The Waipā District, with key locations of Cambridge and Te Awamutu, is growing rapidly. Our Council's vision is Waipā Home of Champions: Building Connected Communities, which means partnering with the community to promote the wellbeing of the district and its people. We employ 340 passionate and dedicated staff across a broad range of functions; parks and playgrounds, cemeteries, libraries, roading, water services, project delivery, environmental health, animal control, finance, IT, customer support and much more!

About The Team

Our HR team including HR, Payroll, Health and Safety and Culture and Capability, are a friendly and close-knit bunch who are highly collaborative, share knowledge freely, and truly care about one another. We are mostly based in Te Awamutu, but we have a flexible working model including the ability to work days at home or from our Cambridge office.

About The Role

Our HR Business Partners are true generalists. Each is the HR lead for their own portfolio of teams, partnering with leaders who seek out and highly value their advice and guidance. The HR Business Partner role will give you exposure to the full HR remit, including remuneration, performance review processes, performance management, recruitment, engagement surveys, employment relations, leadership development, business planning, and learning and development. You will have opportunities to operate at all levels, from assisting individual staff members and first level supervisors, through to presenting to the Executive Team.

The entire HR team are fundamental to Council 'walking the talk' of being a great employer - one who is equitable, fair and considerate of our staff. Our HR Business Partners are empowered to guide and influence leaders to adhere to Council's Values through robust and appropriate people practices, producing fantastic outcomes for our people and our community.

About You

Our ideal candidate will have a degree-level qualification in a related field, and at least three years' experience in a generalist HR role. Employment relations and change management experience is highly desirable. Great communication skills, values, attitude and a good team fit are essential, as is a sense of humour, because we'll be spending a lot of time together!

In return, we offer a fun and flexible working environment with plenty of support, and opportunities to grow and develop. Caring for our people is really important to us, so we have generous leave entitlements and great benefits.

If you're interested in being considered, please APPLY NOW - we'd love to hear from you.

Ngā mihi,

Waipā District Council HR Team
