He kōrero mō te tūranga - The role

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a People Advisor to join Emerge Aotearoa for a 12-month, fixed-term contract based in Christchurch (Hillsborough).

Working closely with the People Partners and People Partnership Manager, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Providing accurate and pragmatic advice on a broad range of People related matters
  • Leading or supporting employment relation cases, such as conduct and disciplinary matters, performance support processes, complaint investigations and return to work processes
  • Supporting the delivery of some people projects and cyclical initiatives and activities

We are looking for an engaging, empathetic, and highly organised People Advisor, with relevant HR/People experience.

You will be community-minded, values-driven, culturally responsive, extremely proactive, and able to quickly build relationships and influence with ease. You will also have a knowledge of New Zealand employment legislation.

He kōrero mōu - About you

To be successful in this role you will have the experience and confidence to provide HR advice to managers, however, it's crucial you have strong people skills, a great sense of humour, and professionalism.

Apart from the requirement for up-to-date knowledge of NZ employment law and HR practice, you will need the following:

  • Proven experience in providing generalist HR support
  • An ability to engage professionally with a diverse mix of people at all levels
  • A natural and confident collaborator who can build trust
  • Customer-centric with a growth mindset
  • The agility and flexibility to respond to changing environments and day to day challenges

You'll develop yourself a reputation for using your initiative, anticipating needs and continuously look for ways to improve the mahi we do and the way we support our managers.
