Bead and Proceed is a social enterprise that exists to educate people on the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and inspire action towards them through creativity. We’ve workshopped with over 15,000 + individuals, helped over 50 + businesses and organisations align to the relevant SDGs and targets including corporates, councils, government organisations, professional service firms, universities, businesses in agriculture and tourism sectors. In fact, we’re one of the leading sustainability tools in Aotearoa and our engaging and energetic workshop experiences ensure your whole team is taken on the journey! Whether you're looking to kick-start your sustainability strategy, build sustainable action within the workplace or seeking a powerful team building activity with lasting impact, we have you covered. Our approach can to tailored to your organisation’s need and workshop size doesn’t matter. We cater to intimate strategy sessions with board members to large scale events, delivering unique activations and powerful keynotes. We also offer coaching an consulting in sustainability, creativity and leadership! Our mahi in this space has been recognised by recognised by the Rt Hon. Helen Clark, the Sustainable Business Network Awards, the Impact Awards and the New Zealander of the Year Awards. We also walk the sustainability talk. Our materials are ethically and sustainably sourced:

  • Our kits create safe, quality employment for marginalised communities in Kolkata, India, in partnership with Silence, a World Fair Trade Certified Organization that empowers adults with disabilities by up-skilling them, offering fair wages, and providing financial literacy services to their families.
  • Our paint is from the Natural Paint Partner and for every square metre of paint painted, they save a square metre of Amazon Rainforest. To date, we’ve saved over 2,000 square metres of Amazon Rainforest thanks to their partnership.
  • Not only are our kits handmade from recycled paper but our stakes, brushes and beads are also made from recycled wooden pallets. To date, we’ve recycled over 270 + wooden pallets and end-of-life wood off cuts for our workshop materials. We’ve diverted over 6,775 kgs from landfill! 
  • Core to Bead and Proceed is our one for one model. For every kit purchased, we donate another kit to either a low decile school or a deserving community organisation. Since launching, we’ve educated 1,000s of students and organisations including (but not limited to) 24/7 Youth Work, GirlGuiding New Zealand, Student Volunteer Army, Te Oranganui, Kaiaua School, Ruahine Kindergartens Association + many more.

Describe your product or service and what it delivers:

We offer workshops on sustainability – looking at all areas of sustainability: economic, social and environemental. ESG consulting and reporting, team building workshops that weave sustainable impact and on going and tailored coaching on: sustainability, leadership and creativity.


What size business or organisation does your product/ service suit?

We cater to any size. We can tailor our workshops for smaller strategy sessions with board members or leadership teams to facilitating and delivering large scale sustainability activitions and key notes for summits, conferences and events. It really depends on the space available.


What kinds of organisations may be interested in your product/ service?

As sustainability impacts every industry, we work with all orgsniations and businesses. You might be a business just starting its sustainability journey and looking for an engagement and introduction workshop, or you could be an organisation that’s ready to implement its sustainability strategy and and looking for a change manangement tool to take everyone on the journey and vision, or you could be looking to further your impact with fresh ideas, policies and iniativies – we’re here to help you at whatever stage and can tailor to your needs.


How long has your product/ service been on the market?

1n 2018, Bridget Williams, took off her high court gown and put on a necklace. Thus, Bead and Proceed was born. We officially lanched the social enterprise in 2019 and since then have workshopped with over 15,000 + indiviuals, 50 + businesses and organisations and have become one of the leading sustainability tools in the country – combining, strategy, team building, creativity and lasting impact.


What does your standard product cost?

Our Bead and Proceed workshops are typically $2,000 + GST and it’s $30 + GST for each person to undertake our creative beaded exercise. This includes:

  • Presentataion · Team strategy and creative experience 
  • Follow up sustainability report 

Bead and Proceed Impact, our summit/event/conference experience is between $6,000 -$7,500 + GST. This includes: 

  • Creativity station 
  • Beaded SDG mural 
  • Key note 
  • Follow up report 

Our coaching and consulting services is $190 + GST per hour.


Is your product an off the shelf solution, or does it require customisation?

Our workshops do not require customisation, however, if you would like something tailored and bespoke, we can certainly work this into our offering.


How long does your product take to implement? How does customisation impact this?

Our typical workshops are 2.5 – 3 hours long but again, we can tailor to your needs and can amend the duration.


What is your post-implementation support? Are there costs to this or is the up-front cost inclusive of additional support?

For every workshop we deliver, we provide a follow up report. This is a valuable report that collates all the data, ideas and feedback from the workshop and we calculate the top SDGs selected. The report gives you great insight into what your team personally care about in terms of sustainability and we provide next steps and highlight SDG strengths, weaknesses and opportunities for the organisation. This report is included in the price. In addition, we also check in three months post workshop to see how progress is being made and can offter tailored “after care” packages if the organisation is wanting futher guidance and consulting services.


Would you be able to provide example customers/ organisations who would be willing to allow site-visits for potential customers to view a demonstration of the product or service in action?

We’ve worked with a range of businesses in fact, Bridget Williams (founder of Bead and Proceed) is HRNZ’s sustainability coach. From faciliting workshop rollouts with PwC New Zealand across their offices to deliverying workshops for gradute recruitment and onboarding process with Fulton Hogan to tailoring sustainability strategy days with Central Plains Water Ltd – we have worked with over 50 + businesses including corporates, councils, government organisations, professional service firms, universities, businesses in agriculture and tourism sectors.
