The role of human resources manager at Waipā Networks: 

The role reports to the GM – People, Safety and Sustainability and oversees a team of two direct reports. The role is ideal for an experienced human resources manager or senior advisor ready to take that next step.

As Waipā Networks’ Human Resources Manager, you’ll be strategically managing our most valuable asset—our people. But that’s not all. You’ll also nurture employee satisfaction and well-being and maintain compliance with legal and ethical standards. The role covers all aspects of the employee lifecycle, and so requires an experienced, well-versed HR professional.

Key responsibilities:

  • Fostering a positive work culture and becoming an employer of choice at Waipā Networks.
  • Developing and implementing effective strategies to engage employees, celebrate successes, and address concerns to promote team satisfaction.
  • Creating a proactive process to review and embed company values throughout Waipā Networks.
  • Developing and executing recruitment strategies that attract top talent while overseeing recruitment processes and supporting hiring managers.
  • Being a trusted advisor for HR-related issues, including legal dispute resolution.
  • Reviewing current and developing new performance management processes that provide guidance to managers and support employee development.
  • Developing and maintaining HR policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and industry standards.
  • Utilising HR analytics to provide insights for workforce planning and organisational effectiveness, supporting change initiatives and managing transitions.

About you

You’ll be experienced in HR management roles, preferably in the electricity distribution industry or a related field, and/or have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in human resource management, business administration, or a related field.

We are looking for a passionate and driven individual with in-depth knowledge of HR best practices, employment law, and regulatory requirements in New Zealand. Not only that, you’ll also be someone with an eagerness to learn and give it your all.
