Te āhuatunga a te tūranga | About the role

The People & Capability (P&C) Manager provide leadership within the People and Capability Team and wider organisation to deliver the day to day operations of the People & Capability Function and People Strategy ‘Rau Tāngata, Rau Pūkenga’. Ensuring the organisation and its people are led through transparent practices, relevant law, pay and reward, people analytics and robust resourcing processes.  A strategic partnering approach ensures our leaders are guided to navigate all people related matters and create positive working environments for our kaimahi now and into the future.

The People & Capability (P&C) team form part of our wider People and Leadership group which includes Organisational Development and Governance teams. As a group we thrive on delivering innovative ways of developing organisational and people capability. You will have plenty of opportunity to enable people led actions so we can collectively achieve the strategic direction of the organisation.

In People and Leadership, our goal is to “work as one” to deliver ‘Rau Tāngata, Rau Pūkenga’. 

Ō pūmanawa | Your skills and experience

Your values driven and people centric approach will set a shining example for people across Toi Moana. You will really value people and enjoy creating a shared purpose and enabling people development and well-being across our organisation. You will also be an effective and positive change agent, continually evaluating and encouraging innovation and the evolution of work.

In addition, you will have:

  • Demonstrated skills in people leadership, relationship building, communication, collective bargaining, negotiation, decision making, influencing, coaching, interpersonal and teamwork.
  • Strong proven experience and working knowledge of NZ employment legislation and employment relations.
  • The ability to navigate complex people topics, balancing an understanding of risk and doing what’s right for our organisation and the people we are here to support.
  • Professional courage and influence, demonstrating courage to speak up and skilfully influence others to gain buy-in.
  • Bachelor degree level qualification in HR or business-related discipline. 
  • Experience and enthusiasm with taking a strategic approach to people related matters whilst building partnerships and working collaboratively.
  • A growing understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its place within Aotearoa, New Zealand.
