Jolene Harford, Head of Employment Relations, NZ Post
Jolene is passionate about developing innovative approaches and strategies to transform HR. She seeks to foster creative mindsets that think differently about the way to address HR challenges faced by organisations today. Her focus as a leader is to ensure that everyone reaches their potential, building upon the diverse skills, knowledge, and culture of our workplaces. She strives to empower teams to bring their experience and expertise to every opportunity.
Over the years, Jolene has contributed to many successes and achievements across the People team and wider business at NZ Post. She has developed a variety of successful people programmes, using collaboration-based HR processes to draw out opportunities with her customers and develop people solutions to meet the business needs. One such programme recently won a HRNZ award in the organisational change and development category, ‘NZ Post’s Just Transition programme’ in partnership with E tū union, and finalist in another category for Te Korowai, NZ Post’s inhouse conflict resolution service.
Jolene has worked in a variety of roles across Employment Relations at NZ Post, including leading the People and Change function across a significant transformation programme. Prior to that she worked in employment legal services and private mediation, following an earlier career in administration and management. She has over 20 years of work experience and numerous educational qualifications which she completed as a mature student while juggling fulltime work and being a mum. Her qualifications include a Bachelor of Business majoring in Human Resource Management and Employment Relations and a Business Law minor, a NZ Law Society Legal Executive Diploma, and a Graduate Diploma in Business Studies in Dispute Resolution.
In her downtime, Jolene enjoys getting out in nature and spending more quality time with her ever growing family now the grandchildren have started to arrive.
