Our client is a leading kaupapa Māori organisation dedicated to improving health and wellbeing outcomes for Māori. They are seeking a Kaiarataki Tangata Pūmanawa (HR Team Lead) to support the HR Manager, provide leadership to a small team, oversee recruitment, and offer HR advisory support to both kaimahi and management. This is ideal for someone with 2–3 years of HR advisory experience who is passionate about Te Ao Māori, organisational culture, and best-practice HR. This is an opportunity to step up into leadership or bring your HR expertise into a role where you can truly make a difference.

Some of your key responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing recruitment and onboarding processes.
  • Providing HR advisory support to kaimahi and leadership.
  • Supporting the development of HR policies and frameworks aligned with kaupapa Māori values.
  • Building strong relationships to foster a positive and culturally responsive workplace.

About You

This role is ideal for someone with:

  • 2-3 years of HR advisory experience, ready to step into leadership, OR an experienced HR professional seeking a kaupapa Māori environment.
  • Knowledge and experience in Te Ao Māori, Te Reo me ōna Tikanga, and the ability to apply these principles in a workplace setting.
  • A background in the public health or community sector (preferred but not essential).
  • Strong relationship-building and advisory skills to support kaimahi and leadership.
  • Strong understanding of employment legislation (ERA, Privacy Act, Health & Safety).
