Reporting to the GM People & Culture, this role will lead our learning and development function and work closely with our Clinical Educator and other members of our P&C team to manage the delivery of our education programmes.   

We are a supportive, collaborative and flexible team who deliver high quality learning programmes to our Hospice West Auckland employees and palliative care providers in the wider West Auckland community.    

The Learning and Development Advisor is primarily responsible for: 

  • Liaising with all areas of the organisation about their learning needs and the development and access to learning programmes.
  • Hosting meetings, workshops, student visitors and other learning activities and events, both in-person and on Zoom.
  • Working closely with our Clinical Nurse Educator to support and deliver clinical learning programmes to our staff and other community-based healthcare providers.
  • Supporting managers with orientation processes and resources for their new staff members.
  • Working collaboratively with other managers to design, develop and deliver non-clinical training with a strong focus on technology tools and delivery methods. 
  • Liaising with key external organisations: tertiary education institutions, aged residential care, primary care providers, and other education providers and network groups.
  • Working in conjunction with our P&C Administrator to ensure L&D admin processes are effective and all learning activities are advertised, registered, coordinated and reported.
  • The effective management of a library of learning resources that are responsive to the needs of the organisation, accessible, regularly reviewed and updated. 

 About You 

As the Learning and Development Advisor, you will be passionate about sharing knowledge and supporting others to learn.  You will be a strong communicator, highly organised and efficient and proficient with technology.  You will also be confident communicating and collaborating at all levels across our organisation. 

This opportunity may suit someone currently working as an L&D Advisor / Administrator or Coordinator looking for that next challenge or a Business/Commerce graduate who has specialised in HR/Learning and Development. 

To be successful in this role you will have … 

  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills. 
  • A strong self-motivated work ethic, an enjoyment of being efficient and organised and a cooperative and flexible approach to work.
  • A high level of experience and proficiency working in a Microsoft 365 environment and the ability to learn and understand new technology platforms and processes quickly.
  • Advanced skills with Zoom hosting and facilitation, using both meeting and webinar functionality.
  • A customer focused approach and willingness to jump in where needed to support all areas of the organisation with their learning.
  • A clean full driver’s licence to visit our various West Auckland work sites if required. 

The following knowledge and skills would be an advantage 

  • Previous experience in a learning and development role
  • A tertiary qualification in HR / Learning and Development
  • Experience developing eLearning using Articulate software 

This is a busy Monday to Friday, 8.30am – 5pm position with abundant opportunities to learn and develop in the role.  Some flexibility of hours may be required, and we include the option of one day per week working from home.  We offer a competitive salary, and our West Auckland location has free on street parking.
