The Role:

MASH Trust is one year into a significant refresh of our business model. This includes new business opportunities, a refresh in the way we work and a new enterprise management system (EMS). New people programmes are in development and others, such as Performance Development, are going into delivery. Configuration of Workday, our new EMS is also underway. We aim to work in a new way; to enable the aspirations and plans of the people we support.

This is an opportunity to be involved in framing up a new way of working for our team of 550. While you will certainly be providing leadership and advice in Employment and Industrial Relations (ER and IR) there’s much to do and you will have the chance to strategically frame up positive change. 

We are seeking a strategically oriented, experienced People and Culture Business Partner to join our collaborative People & Culture (P&C) Team. In this role, you will deploy your relationship management expertise to support senior leaders, build people management capability and ensure alignment with the annual plan, systems changes and our long-term Strategic Plan. 

Reporting to the P&C Manager, this is a one-year Fixed Term role to allow you to frame and embed a new way of working in the Business Partner arena.  

We are open to considering a role that offers work-life balance, working 32 hours per week. (0.8 FTE pro rata). 

You will be working with Regional Manager teams, within a Corporate Support framework, as well as experts in the P&C team, our Enterprise System project teams and other project teams as the need arises. We have an enthusiastic P&C team that has fun and gets the job done.

This role is Fixed Term for 12 months

Key Responsibilities*:

  • Understand specific healthcare organisation challenges, using this insight to empower and support the deployment of our people programmes
  • Be a trusted advisor to our leaders by providing strategic guidance, data and insights as our way of working changes. Model behaviors that matter
  • In alignment with our people programmes work with leaders to spot and develop opportunities to build a high performing, engaged workforce
  • Listen, consider and reflect opportunities to experts and leaders, as we learn how to best progress our strategic goals  
  • Coach leaders to develop and maintain strong team management expertise and to use their ER training with confidence. Provide sound ER guidance on complex ER issues and manage risk
  • Drive P&C effectiveness through system and processes enhancement.

*These are the key emphases in the role, you won’t necessarily need all of these on day one. 

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • 6-8 years’ experience within the People & Culture field and at least 3 years in a Business Partner role.
  • Strong expertise in building valued relationships with leaders, from senior to beginner levels, and experience in the deployment of stakeholder engagement planning.
  • Experience in embedding new strategic people programmes, for example culture change and performance development. Facilitation experience would be welcomed.
  • Consummate expertise in ER case assessment and process, underpinned with extensive knowledge of NZ employment law and regulations. Some experience with Industrial Relations negotiation would be valuable.
