What led you to a career in HR/ the position that you are in currently? 

I was lucky to be introduced to HR by a friend of mine who said maybe this was the job for me. I was studying towards a Bachelor of commerce Majoring in Marketing and management at Otago. I took an HR paper on the off chance that I might like it and that was it, I really enjoyed the human aspect to HR.

What do you love about working in HR?

I really enjoy being a part of an employee's journey with the business. I think it is really great being able to support our employees to be the best version of themselves. I really enjoy Organization development and creating solutions that can benefit the business. 

What is an achievement so far in your career that you are proud of?

Working in a Management role at a young age. I have been really lucky to have some great mentors to support me in getting where I am today. I have also integrated an HRIS software platform into our businesses, this was a massive task but it is great to have it up and running. 

What are your thoughts on the Emerging Professional Member process?

I think it is great to be able to work towards something within my career, the process is easy to follow. 

Do you plan to now work towards becoming a Chartered Member?

Yes, hopefully it won't be too far away! I think it is great to be able to be recognised as a reputable professional within the HR community. 

What are your next steps in terms of your career?

To grow within myself, continue professional development to ensure I am the best version of myself.
