What led you to a career in HR/ the position that you are in currently?

Throughout my previous roles I developed a strong interest in HR which led me to begin studying this field. This study supported me to pursue a career transition where I was given the opportunity to lead People and Culture.

What do you love about working in HR?

There are a lot of elements to HR, however having lead People and Culture for the past 4 years I have developed a particular passion for driving strategic direction and the cultural transformation within the organisation.

Are there any specific highlights of your career that you wish to share?

I am proud of my whole career as I have worked my way up if I am honest, however being appointed to General Manager of People and Culture is the highlight of my career. It started as a dream and became a reality. Creating our current People and Culture Strategy. This is a crucial element for organisations for many reasons and being able to develop and deliver our strategy is a highlight for me in my career also.  

What are your thoughts on Chartered Membership? How do you feel about being a Chartered Member?

It’s another avenue to extend my knowledge and keep updated with HR latest trends. I value the recognition of being a chartered member. Being a chartered member reflects my ongoing commitment to leading HR.  

What motivated you to work towards becoming a Chartered Member?

Having worked as a HR professional leading the function I had expertise in the domains of knowledge and being an HRNZ member for the past few years, I wanted to take the opportunity to be recognised as chartered. 

What are your next steps in terms of your career now that you are a Chartered Member?

Continue to expand and refine my skill set to ensure I am well prepared for future opportunities.
