Core Capabilities
The HOW | How you demonstrate the core capabilities of HR
What are the core capabilities?
The Core Capabilities are six elements that sit at the heart of the framework, and capture the essence of good HR practice.
The six areas of capability that we’ve identified are crucial for good HR practitioners in NZ, regardless of role or level of seniority.
They will be reflected in different ways depending on your role, but should all be present at some level in every practitioner. Great HR practice will often involve demonstrating a number of the core capabilities at any given time.
For example, successfully implementing a new policy in a workplace requires an HR practitioner to understand the people this policy will support, what kind of environment they’re working in, how to engage and lead their employees to use the policy, the legal compliance aspects of their policy and how this mitigates risk.
