In the past few months, we have seen an increased focus from Immigration New Zealand (INZ) in relation to ensuring that employers who employ migrant workers are compliant with immigration and employment legislation.

This focus has been apparent in the accredited employer renewal process, and also in terms of changes we have seen to the regulations that INZ follows when managing the immigration system.

The costs of getting it wrong can be significant, with a new penalty regime introduced in January 2024 – including penalties ranging from a fine of $3,000 upwards to being placed on the “stand-down” list or having your accreditation status removed.

In this webinar, Rachael Mason, immigration law expert at Lane Neave Lawyers, will discuss the key areas that employers need to think about to ensure they are immigration-compliant. Read more about her here.

The session will aim to cover:

  • Compliance requirements as part of being an accredited employer
  • Ensuring compliance in ongoing employment of migrant workers
  • INZ’s framework for dealing with non-compliance
  • Common areas where non-compliance can occur and tips on how to avoid these.

There will also be time for questions and answers.
