This series will be held virtually over zoom over 3 Tuesdays:

Tuesday 10 June (9:00am - 1:30pm) Effective Performance Reviews and Giving Feedback

Tuesday 17 June (9:00am - 1:30pm) Managing Poor Performers

Tuesday 24 June (9:00am - 1:30pm) Negotiating Exits for Problem Employees

This series focuses on improving performance management, addressing underperformance, and managing employee exits effectively. Participants will gain the confidence to handle performance challenges, create performance improvement plans, and navigate employee exits with confidence.

Performance development is one of the most effective ways to improve productivity and a company’s profitability. Yet many employers avoid giving constructive feedback for fear of getting it wrong.

In this comprehensive series, you’ll develop essential skills in providing constructive feedback, conducting performance reviews and formal processes, resolving performance issues early, and ensuring compliance with employment laws.

The series also covers strategies for managing exits, including negotiating settlements with underperforming employees to minimise legal risks.

Effective Performance Reviews Tuesday 10 June (9:00am – 1:30pm)

This session provides a guide for HR and managers to create high-performing teams through effective feedback and performance reviews.

The course will focus on giving managers a performance development framework for frequent feedback and catch ups with staff.

Participants will learn how to give feedback for improvement and conduct performance reviews with ease. Consider checklists and templates that you can apply in your organisation.

Our employment lawyer will provide practical guidance on how to prepare for and conduct performance reviews, with reduced risk of any legal claims.

We will answer questions like: What should you discuss in regular catch ups with staff? How can you assess staff performance fairly by reducing manager biases?

Find out how to manage underperformance and motivate high performers by setting performance and learning goals.

Managing Poor Performers Tuesday 17 June (9:00am – 1:30pm)

This session is a comprehensive overview of the performance management framework.

Delays in performance management affect team performance and productivity. Managers fed up with poor performers may dismiss them without proper process, causing costly unfair dismissals.

Find out how to avoid poor performance in the first place, and informally address performance issues through coaching staff and feedback for improved performance.

Identify your employment law obligations to comply with the law. This course is practical and designed to assist you in writing performance improvement plans and attending performance management meetings.

We will discuss practical options for continued non-performance, including performance improvement plans and issuing graduated warnings to dismissal.

Negotiating Exits for Problem Employees Tuesday 24 June (9:00am – 1:30pm)

This session provides a comprehensive guide for HR and managers to exiting problem employees through negotiation or mediation.

Our employment lawyer will discuss why you should consider exit settlements for problem employees, with guidance on how to reduce the risk of a personal grievance.

Participants will find out how to prepare for negotiation and mediation and conduct a risk assessment of both parties’ positions.

We will focus on how to resolve matters by way of a record of settlement for a successful outcome. Consider terms of settlement that protect your company and ensure the exit agreement is full and final.

This course gives practical guidance to address issues that commonly arise during negotiation and mediation.

Consider practical ways to protect confidential information, company property, and reputation when a problem employee leaves your organisation.
