Pink Shirt Day 2025 with HRNZ!
As part of Pink Shirt Day, HRNZ is hosting a panel event exploring workplace bullying, psychological safety, and inclusion. Key topics include:
•    Effective policies and initiatives that empower employees to speak up against bullying.
•    Identifying and addressing subtle forms of bullying, such as microaggressions and exclusion.
•    The link between workplace bullying and mental health, and how organizations can provide proactive support.
•    The role of psychological safety and Māori values in fostering inclusive workplaces.
•    Practical steps individuals and organizations can take to create safer work environments.
We'll have an engaging panel featuring four dynamic speakers and a skilled moderator. Our panelists bring a wealth of diverse perspectives, spanning academia, HR, equity and inclusion, and bicultural competency training—promising a thought-provoking and insightful discussion!

Jason Northover – Kihirua Ltd

Ko Jason Northover tōku ingoa. I am the Managing Director of Kihirua Ltd providing cultural support, education programmes and workshops and cultural supervision. Kihirua means ‘to change mind’. Our focus is to provide a range of support that will help you understand and apply a bicultural perspective to your practice, approach and organisation. We specialise in the use of kaupapa Māori methodologies, mātauranga Māori and tikanga Māori as a medium for encouraging and supporting practitioners ‘to change mind’ and engage a bicultural perspective of all aspects of their mahi. Our work is underpinned by the princples of pono, tika and aroha and guided in all aspects by the values of manaakitanga, whanaungatanga and āhurutanga and the twin pillars of kaitiakitanga and rangatiratanga. I provide this mahi across a range of universities through lectures, cultural supervision and leadership coaching. I also work as a Principal Adviser Kaupapa Māori Integrated Systems within the Department of Corrections with a background in facilitation and supervision of group therapy for offenders to address their criminogenic needs.

Nadine Marshall – University of Canterbury

Nadine Marshall is an educator, consultant, and employee advocate with a strong background in human resources, employee relations, and university teaching. Committed to ethical leadership, organisational justice, and employee well-being, she works at the intersection of education, policy, and organisational behaviour, to foster inclusive and innovative workplace cultures. Nadine is passionate about bridging theory and the real world for her students, offering practical insights while encouraging them to connect with their own wisdom. Her consultancy work focuses on cultivating high-trust, inclusive workplaces where employees feel valued and supported to do their best work. Nadine weaves her disciplines with a love of stories, and an unwavering faith in the potential of people to be a harmonising presence in organisations.

Mary Abbott – Environment Canterbury

Mary works for Environment Canterbury as their Organisational Development Manager and is passionate about building a workplace culture that enables everyone to feel safe, bring their full selves to work, and perform at their best. Mary has a Master of Science in Applied Psychology and brings both her best-practice, research based approach alongside her practical and pragmatic lens to combine the best of both worlds when putting people first.

Suran, Director of Flipside Consulting, is an industry leading expert on behaviour change, communication and inclusion.
