Mental Health resources and support available
News Industry News
It is Mental Health Awareness week (21-27 September) and this year’s theme is Reimagine Wellbeing Together He Tirohanga Anamata.
The Mental Health Awareness Week website provides a range of Helpful Resources, a collection of research articles relating to holistic wellbeing, ideas of how to get your workplace involved, there’s competitions and activities and of course links to support available.
The Reimagine Wellbeing Together guide outlines the business case for wellbeing, as well as providing tips on effective communication about mental health. This guide has been designed to help you reimagine a workplace that prioritises mental health and wellbeing.
Mental Health Awareness week is underpinned by Te Whare Tapa Whā, a model developed by leading Māori health advocate, Sir Mason Durie. The model describes health and wellbeing as a wharenui/meeting house with four walls. These walls represent taha wairua/spiritual wellbeing, taha hinengaro/mental and emotional wellbeing, taha tinana/physical wellbeing and taha whānau/family and social wellbeing. Our connection with the whenua/land forms the foundation.
Another important tool is Five Ways to Wellbeing at Work – Five simple yet proven actions you can use every day to help find your balance, build resilience and boost your wellbeing. The Five Ways to Wellbeing at Work toolkit includes fact sheets, tips, tools and templates to make it easy for you to support your teams to build the Five Ways into their daily lives.
