Recent Events
A huge thanks to Kim Charteris-Wright who, on Tuesday 27 August, reminded those that were able to attend her session the importance of self care as an HR professional and provided insights and strategies for workplace wellness that can be put into practice.  A great takeaway was the ‘Creating a Positive Healthy Work Environment Checklist’ that organisations can work through and complete.  A special thanks to Silver Fern Farms for hosting this event and for the generous spot prizes that many attendees took away with them on the night.

Those who attended the HRNZ café on Neurodiversity in the workplace on Wednesday 4 September were challenged to think about how inclusive their current recruitment processes are and how these might be able to be done differently.  Simon McCosh was able to provide many hands on examples of supporting people and organisations in mutually beneficial employment relationships which have resulted in very positive outcomes for both the employee and employer.  Liz Gordon updated us on the current work being done by the University of Otago in this space.  A huge thanks to both Simon and Liz, and we look forward to hearing further developments in this space.

Upcoming Events:
The second café for those interested in becoming Chartered members of HRNZ is being held on 9 September 2019 at 12.30 until 2pm at Platinum Recruitment facilitated by Matt Carter, HRNZ Board Member, and Elena Calvert, Otago Branch President.  Spaces are limited to 10 attendees so register today if you are interested.  The first café was at full capacity and a LinkedIn group has been set up for interested people to ask questions, share ideas and encourage each other with their applications.
