Otago Branch Update

News Member Updates

Check out what's been happening and what is coming up in Otago region...

On 15 October HRNZ Otago branch held a well attended panel discussion with three key stakeholders involved in the Dunedin Hospital rebuild project.  Discussion focused on the impacts this project will likely have on our labour market, what we can be doing to plan now, and think about how we will respond to the changes it will bring.  It’s an exciting project for the city and from the information shared we are confident that planning is well underway, a great example of how businesses can work together to ensure positive outcomes for the project, the city and employers.  We would again like to that our three panel members: Nigel Millar (Chief Medical Officer from the Southern District Healthboard), Stephen Willis (Chief Operating Officer from the University of Otago, and Fraser Liggett (Economic Development Programme Manager from Enterprise Dunedin).  Specials thanks to John Llewellyn (General Manager, People and Capability from Delta Utilities Limited) for facilitating the discussions.

UPCOMING EVENTS:

A reminder about the upcoming lunchtime session on Retention and Engagement of Older Workers on Tuesday 12 November at 12 noon at the Otago Business School.  This session will explore how organisations can approach this in a time when this is becoming an increasing focus of our work in Human Resources.

On Wednesday 13 November Oceana Gold are sponsoring an event for HRNZ Otago on Diversity and Inclusion within the New Zealand Defence Force, recent awardees of the Diversity Works Supreme Winner for 2019 across all aspects of Diversity and Inclusion in the workplace.  An event not to be missed.

Keep an eye out for our upcoming members breakfast on 28th November, a great opportunity to network within the branch and provide any feedback you might have about events you would like to see in 2020.  The committee look forward to seeing you there.
