Supporting staff to prioritise their wellbeing

Mental Health Awareness Week (MHAW), run by the Mental Health Foundation of New Zealand, is 23–29 September. The theme is Explore your way to wellbeing – Whāia te ara hauora, Whitiora.
Everyone has mental health and wellbeing, and its something for us all to treasure and look after.
Mental Health Awareness Week is a reminder that sometimes our wellbeing simply isn’t strong – but knowing what makes us feel good can often make a difference during these tough times.
Over Mental Health Awareness Week, workplaces and their people are encouraged to take notice of the simple experiences, actions, relationships and surroundings that make them feel good every day – and do them more often.
It might be having a kōrero with someone who brightens their day, hiking up a maunga near the office, setting a new goal, or learning a waiata that represents the values of your workplace. Read other suggestions in the workplace explore pack.
How your workplace can take part
Workplaces can get involved in Mental Health Awareness Week by:
- Registering for updates.
- Taking part in the Mental Health Awareness Week Workplace Challenge. Workplaces who enter will go in the draw to win a morning tea worth up to $250.
- Downloading or ordering Diversi-tea Kōrero Starter cards. These are an easy way to learn more about your colleagues.
- Downloading digital workplace resources, including the workplace explore guide, posters, e-signatures and screensavers. Note: the printed workplace explore guide is sold out, but posters are still available to order.
