News Industry News

Don’t let outdated HR systems hold your organisation back. Take the first step towards a more efficient and effective HR department.

Having the right technology can transform your HR department, making it more efficient, data-driven, and employee-centric.

From interactions with our members, HRNZ learnt that technology could often be a challenging priority to navigate as an HR professional. We decided to explore this further with an HR technology survey for New Zealand’s people professionals. We uncovered some interesting insights, learning that:

most organisations have plans to replace or upgrade an IT system soon.

insufficient time and capability to undertake a technology project was a common concern for HR Professionals.

knowing what products to choose and integration between products was often daunting.

organisations’ unwillingness to invest in technology and having a history of budget overruns was a consistent barrier to successfully introducing new technology.

With these limitations, it can be challenging for HR professionals to know where to start when it comes to improving their IT systems and technology. This is where a technology needs assessment may come in.

An HR technology needs assessment is a comprehensive evaluation of your current HR systems, processes, and tools. The goal is to identify gaps and inefficiencies and recommend an action plan that address these issues.

Could my organisation benefit from an HR technology needs assessment?

An HR technology needs assessment would be a useful tool to utilise when experiencing ongoing people or technology issues, when implementing new systems or upgrading existing ones, or when undergoing organisational changes or experiencing rapid growth.

The actions derived from a needs assessment can benefit your organisation in the following ways:

Optimised HR Processes

By evaluating your current systems, you can identify areas where better processes and technology could save time and reduce errors. This leads to more efficient workflows, allowing your HR team to focus on strategic initiatives.

Enhanced Employee Experience

Today's workforce expects a seamless and engaging experience from their employers. The right HR technology can improve employee satisfaction by simplifying processes like onboarding, performance reviews, and benefits management.

Compliance and Risk Management

Legal compliance is a critical aspect of managing a workforce. With ever-changing regulations, integrating the right technology into your HR processes can help manage compliance risks by automating tasks and ensuring data privacy.

Informed Decision Making

It is important to select technology solutions that are specifically aligned with your unique business needs and goals. With a clear understanding of the current state of your HR processes and IT systems, you can make well-informed decisions and improve the integration of new HR systems.
