Core Employment Legislation
We identify the key aspects of legislation that inform sound HR practice and employment relations in New Zealand.
Attraction, Recruitment & Selection
We examine critical components of the recruitment and selection process, including workforce planning, job analysis, and effective selection methods.
Employment Relations and Performance Management
We explore the principle of ‘good faith’ and how it applies to everyday HR, and the role of early career HR professionals in supporting optimal performance in the workplace.
Life as an HR Professional
Learn about self-management, personal well-being, and how to maintain and enhance your professional credibility.
You’ll walk away with
Technical knowledge and its application
Valuable networking experience and alumni connections
A clearer picture of your career aspirations
A personalised professional development plan
Greater confidence in your value as an HR practitioner and the value of HR as a profession.
What to expect
HR Foundations is highly interactive, incorporating presentations and group discussions. You’ll also work with other early career HR professionals on case studies that help consolidate your learning by exploring good practice across a range of scenarios.
This course will turn your attention to your next steps and ongoing growth as an HR practitioner. You will use The Path and your course insights to inform your Professional Development Plan, which will support you beyond these three days of formal learning.
Who is this course for?
For practitioners in HR delivery or advisory roles and those new to HR.
This course serves as a bridge between academic study and entering a generalist HR position. It supports those who aspire to become an Accredited Professional.
Testimonials
“This course gave me a different perspective on HR and allowed me to critically think about the processes we use and why we use them. Each day there were new learnings... I would recommend this course not only to people staring their HR career but those that are wanting to gain a deeper understanding of foundational HR topics.”
